Did you know you can DANCE on roller skates?! Im surprised it took this long but I have officially discovered my inner dance skater! It is one of the most magical feelings to be glidings and grooving on your favorite 8 wheeled roller skates. Give it a try!
People can sell Moxi Skates at any relative retail location including roller rinks, skate shops, and online. These companies compete with each other to be the top seller. Well, HELLO THERE COMPETITION! Lets do this thing!
I just learned that my skate shop, conveniently the Moxi Brand headquarters, has for the first time hit number 3 on the list. Never before has such a tiny retail store hit even the top 5. We are shadowed only by Urban Outfitters at #1 (online only) and Amazon.com at #2 (also online). Holy cow I'm right on the tail of these two corporate giants!
Shop local everyone! Even if Long Beach is not your local hood, its better to get your skates from their origin (we ship from the store anywhere in the world) then from corporate giants, yea? Yea.
I waited to post this til our culture's annual New Year's resolutions to improve your health has faded a bit because I dont want you guys to think I am using that as a reason to push this idea. The idea should be pushed no matter what time of year.
Skating is healthy. It is healthy mentally and physically. It offers a cardiovascular workout, endurance training and strength training to build those beautiful strong legs. Along with cardio, endurance and strength training, skating build your balance! Well, obviously right because when you are skating you are pretty much on one leg at a time. To top it off, your coordination improves.
I personally love the fact that is it low impact on your joints, especially compared to running. I had a knee problem from playing sports in my youth that caused me pain when I would run longer than 5 minutes. With skating, 5 hours and Im still striding.
As far as mental health, skating (as with any exercise) releases those lovely endorphins that make us feel great! It will also make you feel good because you are having fun while exercising....sometimes too much fun but Im not going to tell on you.
So get out there, hit the streets, the rink, the bike path, whatever your terrain of choice....and skate!
p.s. To avoid injury it is advised to always wear safety equipment....cause seriously how am I supposed to convince you skating will help with your health if you keep bonkin your head!
The Moxi Skate Team is a group of street skaters, vert skaters and lifestyle skaters. The best part....we are all great friends. We mob in our Moxi Lolly skates, which come in SIX cute colors now, and no matter what our skills are, we are all treated equally. From beginner street skater to world famous stunt skater, our little Skate Team has a very special spot in my heart. Look out for fun and crazy adventures with the Moxi girls coming soon!
The Christmas season is now over. We just took down the lights and packed up the fake snow flakes. The other shops here on 4th street Retro Row in Long Beach California have put away their ugly Xmas sweaters and other vintage holiday accessories. It may have been just another holiday season for everyone else....but for me this year was special. That is because it was my first Christmas.....EVER! You see, my family is Jewish and we never dipped into the lights, tree, and tacky decorations that everyone else I knew did. I didnt mind it now that I am an adult, and to be honest I tried to avoid all Christmas and Holiday cheer as much as possible. But this year was FREAKING AWESOME! I felt so happy putting up the pink glittery Christmas tree in the shop and wrapping fake presents for the window display. But BEST of all....I saw so many people getting new skates here at Moxi Roller Skate Shop. Granted it was mostly because of the obligations that come along with the holiday (gift giving) but if that is what it takes to get so many new people onto roller skates, then gosh darnit I think Christmas is my new favorite holiday. I truly think roller skating is a gift in itself and I hope everyone who got skates for the holidays will tap into it.
